In this illustration, I wanted to portray a plus-size woman smiling with confidence and joy. Even today, there’s still hesitation when it comes to representing non-standard body types—especially women. Often, plus-size characters are drawn in a mocking or offensive way. This piece challenges that.

I chose a stylized approach inspired by both comics and manga, using bold black outlines for emphasis. The shirt features another character I created, Nami Christine Tank, adding a personal touch. The background is abstract and urban, with “KEEP OUT” tape and graffiti-like elements.

Creating Samantha was a deeply satisfying experience. I always strive to diversify my art and represent beauty in all forms.
